Dengizkul is a large salt lake 90 km southwest of Bukhara in Olot district. It is a Ramsar wetland and a bird concentration site: geese, ducks and flamingos gather in autumn and spring, with tamarisk and reeds along the shore. The lake is shallow and salty, not for swimming — people come to watch birds and walk the desert.
